Niagara-on-the-Lake – July 20, 2017 – The Chefs to World Heads of State and Royalty made a stop at Peller Estates Winery on Tuesday, July 18 for a private tour and lunch as part of their 40th anniversary tour. Known as the G20 of Gastronomy, Le Club des Chefs des Chefs (CCC) is the most exclusive gastronomic association in the world.
The group of chefs come together every year in a different country to explore the local cuisine and participate in culinary activities to promote the profession. These culinary ambassadors elected to visit Canada this year to join in on the Canada150 celebrations. The group included Chefs from Italy, Germany, Morocco, France, Estonia, India, and Canada’s Katie Brown-Ardington, chef to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The Chefs saw Niagara Falls up close and personal on a Hornblower Niagara Cruise before visiting Peller Estates Winery & Restaurant to spend an afternoon in Wine Country. Hosted by the Winery’s Executive Chef Jason Parsons and Trius Winery’s Executive Chef Frank Dodd, the Chefs enjoyed an Icewine experience in the 10Below Icewine Lounge and were then treated to a Canadian-themed BBQ lunch overlooking the vineyards.
The Chefs and their guests were wowed with Icewine butter poached lobster, spit roasted Ontario pig, grilled Pacific octopus, vegetables and salads harvested from the Estates’ farm by local farmer Scott Epp, and of course a Quebec poutine station and Peller’s famous Icewine marshmallows.
“It was an honour to host the acclaimed chefs of the CCC and showcase Canadian Cuisine, and the fresh, local ingredients that have always been the driving force for every dish I create at the Winery Restaurant. From farmers, ranchers and fisherman to fromageries, winemakers and more, it’s the passion of hard-working Canadians that truly make it happen,” says Peller Estates’ Executive Chef Jason Parsons.
